The animated series was the first time Octavius was depicted as a mentor for Peter.

Thanks to this version, I always read Doc Ock’s voice in a thick German accent when I read his dialogue in comics. My favorite version of the character!

This was the first time Doc Ock was ever depicted as sympathetic, although in this series he was still a bit of a dick. In the original comics, he was a straight up sociopath. Then here he was shown to once be a good person, but obsessed. Then in 2 he was shown to be a really good guy that lost his sanity in the accident. Then finally, the ps4 game made him a kind man that finally snapped after being screwed over so many times and his invention destroying his sanity. This show seems to have started the trend of Doctor Octopus being sympathetic more than pure evil

Fun Fact:Dock Ock is voiced by the same guy who voiced Alfred in Batman the Animated Series

Always found it funny how in a world where captain america, spider-man, spider-slayers, flying goblins, vampires, talking lizards, among other things...the detective finds the idea of a man with 4 metal arms completely absurd and laughable.

You really have to give Zimbalist credit here. We already knew he could pull off a British accent thanks to Alfred, but he manages to give an equally impressive German one as Ock here.

I honestly feel for Dr. Octavius in this one. The pursuit of cold fusion energy is a noble one.

On one hand, seeing Otto all buff like this is strange...but on the other hand, being German suits him, and I can't help but hear him with a German accent when I read comics featuring him.

Literally, if this didn’t happen. Otto could have helped so many people, but sometimes it’s hard to talk help people who abandon them.

There are many villains who are never born evil. The pain in their lives molded their evil alter egos

Ock may never know that the boy who admired him would grow up to be his greatest enemy.

When I was little I always though Doc Ock was born because the accident from the explosion leveled the building and caused the giant debris to damage the tentacle harness and permanently get stuck into his body.

Now the nuclear explosion, caused his brain to activate his latent mutation so that he can telepathically control the tentacles without the need of a power source

I liked how they established that Doc Ock was Peter Parker's mentor and teacher in this series,
and how even AFTER becoming a villain, Ock still treats Peter with respect (usually.)

It is similar to how in Batman: The Animated Series, they had Twoface be Bruce Wayne's best friend
so that despite hating Batman, Twoface was still kinda friendly towards Bruce.

God Bless Efram Zimbalist for this voice.

I wish they showed Doc Ock saying that the shockwave from the explosion welded the arms to his spine, making him unable to ever remove them without likely dying.

Otto: “Those mindless fools, could not comprehend how I was able to divide my time with science and the gym.” Seriously, 90’s Doc Ock would be Arnold IRL

To think that this scene was basically the origin for the live action Otto Octavius portrayed brilliantly by Alfred Molina....
