Footwork Drill to Create 90° Angle in a Fight

Показать описание
Here is a simple but extremely effective footwork drill for boxing & MMA, to practice cutting a 90° angle on your opponent using two cones or marks on the ground. Vince 'The Anomaly' uses this drill that was taught to him by Coach Adam Lerner, to create striking openings and knock his opponent off balance, all the while avoiding taking damage. So mark two spots on the ground and start practicing!

Awesome video. Another option opposed to instinctually turning to face your opponent when they get this angle, which is the first reaction usually, is to occupy the space that they just vacated. For example if they go to your right from being in front of you and get the T stance then you can step forwards and pivot into their previously occupied space to place yourself in a better position defensively. Thanks for all the coaching, love the amount of martial arts knowledge being shared globally these days.

I would like to also add when someone has the dominant angle on you, you can also switch southpaw if you can fight southpaw. I would say that as a 3rd option if possible for the fighter of course.0:45 to 0:50 of video. BTW awesome video thanks to both of you

Put a pair of shoes on the ground in orthodox and southpaw positions to make it easy to remember where their feet and arms are positioned😉

Great video. This is classic "MikeTyson" type of footwork: excellent for inside fighting. Peekaboo at it's finest...

Really smart having Shane train in the drill for the first time to show the mistakes that can be made. Plus an opportunity to give feedback on what it's like.

In Boxing, the fighter who had not adjusted is suppose to fill in the gap left by his opponent and readjust, not turn on the spot that leaves you susceptible to direct line attack.

Please do a video on head movement specifically for mma ! How do we prevent getting a leg kick to the head or getting into a guillotine choke ?
