This was such a cool video. I’ve been a lab processor/accessioner for over 10yrs ( I know 😩) and I finally made the decision to transition to a MLT. Everything you’ve said is all facts! I’ve worked at 2 trauma hospitals (core and trauma lab) and currently work for my local health department. I’m excited to finally move on up.

Going in for my first interview at Quest. Hope that I pass the specimen test. Your video is very appropriate for me, also. TY. Rosa!!!

I’ll probably do this if I don’t get into my internship the first year, just so I can get experience! Thank you for this info!

Oh I didn’t even know this career was an option! Btw I wanted to drop a vid idea.
Video idea: a tier list of the classes you had to take for the mls program based on enjoyment and/or difficulty

Can becoming a laboratory specimen processor help a person advance/gain skills to become a medical lab tech or is a completely different path?

Also, not all states require a license and the pay will differ state by state along with the level of education. The degree programs for MLS now extends as far as a Doctorate degree in the field. I’m doing my master of science degree for MLS at a medical school in NY. So yes this field is broadening and you also need to know not all colleges are NAACLS accredited so licensing will differ state by state as well.

Is there a chance for me to get the job as specimen processor while I have no prior experience of laboratory and I’m a business student?

Hi Rosa ! I’ enrolled in a phlebotomy program this year but I would love to work in a lab setting later on. Do you think being a phlebotomist will help me advance and maybe get a position as a lab assistant / specimen processor.

I do have more questions for you, what do they ask in the job interview and how to answer the questions

Do they train you? Or are you expected to know everything?

I love your videos so much! They helped me choose MLS as a major in uni 💜😊
But I was just wondering if it is possible to get into med school after majoring in MLS (if I didn't take the permed track) like can I still become a doctor if I majored in MLS regular track?

Hi there! Looking to be a specimen processor to eventually become an MLT/MLS. I just got my BS in Biomedical Sciences. When you interviewed for this position, did they ask a lot about your education? In other words, did it feel like they were quizzing you about your science background? Trying to prepare for a potential interview and I'm a bit nervous.
