It does, plays RM, RMVB and FLV even, you will need a powered USB hub for a portable external HDD, but it can play it straight iwith a USB drive.

1080p output however the launcher is 720p based. Different launchers provide different results AFAIK.

Dam people are so picky these days, even at 720p it is amazingly clear on a HDTV !
