I love the climax at 3:10, this sudden dissonance gives me goosebumps.
There are many elements in the style of Poulenc which make me believe he was exceptionally talented, he knows how to incorporate many styles of music in his own, romantic, modern etc in a very natural way.

MANY thanks for posting this score! During my youth one critic disparaged the work saying, "There is a superfluity of material, and too much goes on." Well... it's not a tightly organized piece, and I would agree that the third movement is a bit scattershot. With that being said, and with my having seen the sheet music, I find that both instrumental parts are written more economical than I presumed, meaning we get impacts without a lot of unnecessary notes. I've listened to the second movement a thousand times - really, it's one of Poulenc's loveliest. As to this performance, the performers are spot-on with the interpretation, but the pianist has quite a few wrong notes (and I don't think's it a matter of using a superseded edition). This is why I LOVE exploring music on YouTube!

HenriVieuxtemps your videos are amazing and helpful, but I always miss the interpreters' names. Posting this without them is as wrong as posting it without composer's name. No musicians, no music to listen.
I beg you to put them in future videos and also in this one 🙏🙏🙏

The appassionato at 4:53 is just divine.

I don't think I'm the ONLY violinist here who's like, "HOW HAVEN'T I PLAYED THIS YET??" :O <3

there's a certain flavor in the intermezzo that leaves a taste in your mouth unlike anything else I've ever heard before

I like the third movement, it's really exciting, and then quite emotive, I can feel it!

5:30 violinist skipped a beat of rest and the pianist adjusted like a pro
no one cares, but it makes me feel better about releasing my own music lol

8:21 perhaps the piano player was too entranced with the violin playing that he forgot playing his melodic part?

Such an amazing work. I never reached the level where I could play the violin part... perhaps I'll find a violinist and play the piano part.
