I am starting to really trust your reviews on tech in general because you seem to be really cutting through the hype to ask the questions that actually matter to a consumer and not get too heart eye emoji about PPI, cuda cores and the like.

I have the S8+ model, upgraded from the S7 Edge.

The Edge screen is way better, I don't touch it by accident with my hand and the body of the phone is just way more comfortable to hold on my hand.

I think your review is missing a lot of depth.. you can't explain why you need a Snapdragon 835? The phone can be used as a computer with Samsung Dex, which works amazingly well. You don't see a difference between FHD and 2k resolution? trust me, you will notice when you use the phone for Virtual reality.

The phone has Bluetooth 5.0 which is double the lenght and it can be attached to 2 pieces of Bluetooth devices at the same time. Meaning you can watch a movie on Netflix while you have a bluetooth headset on and your partner/friend has one aswell. This could come in handy while travelling on a plane/train.

The new design is not just a new design, it's a lot bigger screen, it's just amazing to see how much extra content fits on the screen and makes it that much more enjoyable to lay in bed watching youtube, instead of taking your Tablet into bed.

The fingerprint scanner is easy to use and even with my relatively small hands I almost always hit it on my first try with my S8+ even though my face recognition opens my phone extremely fast.

Of course you want a future proof phone, so HDR is great. You don't want to buy a new phone every year if you don't have to, so that's great.

The phone even has 1024mb LTE speed..

You mention the battery, it might be because I have the S8+ that has a 500mah bigger battery but I can manage 2 whole days maybe even more on a single charge, and I have always on display and always more then 60% screen brightness, and I use my phone hours a day.

You mention it has double the storage which is 64gb. You should mention it has a SD card slot which can add another 256 GB of storage.

You also fail to mention that the mono speakers are much better then on the S7 but most importantly you get amazing headphones for free. They just sound amazing and are so comfortable to wear.

The only bad thing I have to say about the phone is that it still uses the Quick charge 2.0 technology, which is the same as S7 edge. the 835 processor is capable of QI 4.0 so it's either Samsungs battery that isn't capable of the technology or it's a software block, because Samsung are taking extra measures to not have another Note disaster, so they are playing the battery size and charging speed extra safe.

Easily the best phone on the market.

My brother gave me an S8 as a surprise birthday present a couple of weeks ago when I was in the UK and it's an amazing phone. Picture quality is stunning and, apart from Bixby (which I've remapped using Bx actions) there's barely anything I can fault it on. Streets ahead of any iPhone I've used.

Great honest opinion there Tom. I previously owned an S7 edge (Pixel 5 inch now) and I've been struggling to think of a good reason to buy an S8. I'm think I actually prefer the LG G6 over the S8 but I'm holding out for the Pixel 2 later in the year.

very impressed by the level of thought into this design, not taking away a fingerprint scanner but making the iris more prominent, rather than apples method of removing the headphone jack completely or removing most ports from the macbook

still an impressive battery too in my view, and I would have preferred a programmable application button like on the active series but then again bixby is great for competition

I have had my S8 for 3 days now. Here is the early impressions. (I upgraded from an S4 so a pretty old phone) I think the storage and display is GREAT, the best on the market. What you said about the battery has not been the case for me, mine lasts 7 hours and only lost 25% just today but of course all use is different so that depends on the person. Bixby I completely agree with you on, but i dont like any assistants, I like to figure things out. And the Bixby button should be programmable. I love the edge application (whatever it is called) and think that the micro transactions for it are BS. But honestly if you have an S7 or even an S6 I would not even bother upgrading unless the screen is destroyed. The S8 is great but I would not upgrade if I had a more recent phone. Of course it also all depends on income.

Looks like a pretty great phone! Really though I think the design does have a really big impact on the experience with the phone, so design alone is a big reason to move up from another phone up to this one. At the end of the day though Android is Android, all the apps are going to be the same (other than Bixby) no matter which phone you use. I do think though that the experience with them is that much better on a phone that has great internals, but is also nice to hold and nice to look at.
