Brentford were knocked out of the Carabao Cup after a 3-1 defeat to Newcastle United at the quarter-final stage at St James' Park on Wednesday night.

A first-half brace from Sandro Tonali put Eddie Howe's side ahead, before Fabian Schär scored the third from close range with 20 minutes to play. Yoane Wissa scored a late consolation for the west Londoners, but it wasn't enough to prevent the cup exit.
