I loved them. Fantastic band. They died two years later near the town I grew up in southwestern Minnesota. They died in a plane crash in Iowa. The news showed their instruments in the crash. Chase played with the best, with Maynard Fergusson and Don Ellis. What a terrible loss

I was at this concert. I was in the Army, stationed at Camp Zama (outside of Tokyo) and I got free tickets from the Army Service Club for this concert. I got to the Budokan very early and just wandered around and literally ran into the band…they treated me like I was one of the group…one of the biggest thrills of my young life…I am in my late sixties now, and look at that night as one of the great nights of being a music fan.

ty for putting this up; i learned how to get range from "get it on" in highschool. before that i just accepted an above the bar c, after listening to Bill nad his get it on madness i got the double c with clarity. I just love this stuff and while he's gone his music does live on.

They did a concert in my hometown of Athol Ma not too long before the plane crash that we used as a fund raiser for the high school band. Bill did a workshop for any of the high school trumpet players in the area that wanted to come. It was as awesome experience. The guy was so gracious to all of us in sharing his tips on playing. I was on the stage crew for the concert and hey guys were all so polite and appreciative.

I heard this band just before the plane crash. The trumpets weren't even miked, and they knocked me into the next decade. Probably the best trumpet section I've ever heard.

Miss you Ted Piercefield. Thank you so much for your music. You and Bill are back together now.
Your voice was a perfect fit for the early Seventies.

I knew Bill And all the Chase members. Was a copilot on his DC 3 Airplane we flew them to many many concerts.
Fortunately was not on board April 9, 1974. Chase concerts were not like any of today’s concerts. Shame they are not here today.
The band members that drove became The Survivors and made Eye of the Tiger.

G.G. We miss you! Great seeing Ted singing on Glad Bags. G.G. played trumpet as well. Bill at his best! Way ahead of their time. Cut my teeth on this

I got to play with G.G. Shin in 2008 at the ITG in Banff for a Chase tribute concert. I know it was a little controversial at the time that Jens asked me to play in the section, because I was (obviously) not playing in the original band. The local rhythm section had completely underestimated the complexity of the music, and it was a challenge to keep this thing together, to say the least. And one of my jobs was to look after G.G. and his wife during the week. G.G. was almost 70 that week, and he sounded exactly the same as he did in 1972. He would look at me to know when to sing, but he remembered the lyrics of every song in the book. He was a trumpeter as well, and he thoroughly enjoyed dozens of trumpet concerts that week. A very nice person, and what a singer.

The man and his music were taken away from us far before his time.

They played at my high school around that time. Back then our gym was probably the biggest place in my SC town.. but me being a trumpeter in school made this the best concert I ever saw to this day.. thanks to chase I made a career playing trumpet.. you could say Bill Chase was my hero.. and still is ..

I saw these guys practice on my brothers farm in South Africa (he was the sound engineer on their South African tour). Blew my mind and changed my life.

Only recently I bought in Japan 'Ennea' signed by Bill in 1972. Hard to believe he was dead only 2 years later. It has been framed and it's hanging on the wall in my music studio. Absolutely amazing band...only 3 albums.

What a gem! I too have been looking (from time to time) for Chase video's.  This was a blast to watch!  Wish there were more.

My father introduced me to the Chase experience when I was young, and this is the first time I've seen this video. Gives me the chills.

Chase played a concert at my high school in Arkansas not long before he died. Great concert, was supposed to be a fundraiser for the HS band but lost money.

G.G. Shinn was one of the greatest rock tenors of the time. He should have received far more recognition for his amazing skills.
