When I first saw Zetsu I was like OMG ITS ALOE VERA GUY.

I remembered seeing Zetsu emerge after watching these two fought at the Final Valley in Part 1. But he mainly stood out to me because he's a member of the mysterious Akatsuki, the same organization that both Itachi and Kisame (and formerly Orochimaru) were affiliated with. Back when the Akatsuki were just a group of 9 rouge ninjas (and this was even before Deidara, Sasori, Kakuzu, Hidan, Pain, and Konan were revealed), I was excited to find out who the other six were at the time. Zetsu showed up and in my head i was like dang man this guy must be powerful he probably uses some poison/grass-based attacks". I just didn't come to the conclusion that Zetsu was the main antagonist of the show 10-12 some years later and that shook me.

0:04 We've all notice that great foreshowing, Zetsu appeared in the same shot as Madara's statue, hinting their connection.
Especially Zetsu's codename in Akatsuki is ""sign of the boar" (亥), the final and 12th year cycle of animals which appear in Chinese zodiac, it represents the "late/night" time in cycle of hours, when the moon comes out, hinting Zetsu's connection with the "moon", y'all know what this means.

In final season 3, when Sarutobi died, Kakashi went to the memorial of Konoha and Yugao (Hayate's widow) showed up, and said Kakashi is also here for Obito. Also in Shippuden, we had to wait a long long time before the Obito was introduced in the serie. It's like it was planned from the very begining
