In this video, olympic weightlifters Mattie Rogers and Derrick Johnson give their Rehband knee sleeves review and explain how they first were introduced to Rehband knee sleeves.
Derrick Johnson:
“I have always worn Rehband sleeves since the early days, and I respect all that Rehband has done to drive awareness of our sport. They really care about promoting the positive impact that this sport can have for people of all ages and abilities."
Derrick Johnson has been a weightlifter since he was 10 years old. His career as a competitor and coach have been both impressive and inspiring, with multiple National titles, records, and international appearances. His is also an accomplished academic, having earned a Bachelor of Science from Lindenwood University. His childhood was far from privileged, and he faced the daily challenges of growing up in a neighbourhood where gang activity was prevalent. At age 13, Derrick began his journey into Olympic weightlifting at Lift for Life’s after school program for underprivileged youth. Within a short 6 years, Derrick would go on to win multiple national championships, 6 American Open titles, and represent the US on international teams.
At age 19, he began coaching Olympic Lifting and by age 23 was named Head Coach at Lift for Life gym. Only one year later, he founded the Olympic Weightlifting Team at Lindenwood University and served as head coach. He also began training fighters, some of which have gone on to compete in UFC, StrikeForce and appear on the TV reality show The Ultimate Fighter.
In 2010, Derrick was awarded the 2010 Developmental Coach of the Year for USA by the US Olympic Committee. By 2012, his coaching career seemed to be paying off as his athletes produced multiple gold medals in the Senior National Championships of the same year.
Derrick became a member of the Rehband Ambassador Team in Autumn 2015 and he is working towards competing in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil.

She is a fierce competitor, a brilliant athlete, and an outstanding role model for young girls finding their way in sport.
“Weightlifting is an incredible sport and I hope that more people get into it because of what I am accomplishing. Rehband has been very supportive of my career by enabling my full potential!” says Mattie Rogers.
Mattie is a rising star in the world of weightlifting, although her journey didn’t start on the lifting platform. Mattie got her start as an athlete at a very young age taking gymnastics, and eventually discovering the highly competitive sport of cheerleading. Mattie is a natural competitor and she achieved great success and notoriety as a cheerleader before her athletic development led her into the growing sport of CrossFit. This opened a new world to Mattie, in which she discovered that applying her intense work ethic and rigorous training ability resulted in her victory at the first CrossFit Games Teen feature at the 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games.
Always evolving as an athlete, Mattie fell in love with weightlifting and began competing shortly after the Games. As a relatively new athlete to the sport, she has already achieved incredible success, including an appearance on the Junior USA National Team, and a national title in 2015. At the 2015 IWF Junior Pan American Championships, Mattie finished with the top snatch lift (92kg) in her category, earning her a gold medal and establishing an American junior record. For the clean & jerk, she lifted 110kgs, the third best mark in the lift, which totaled a PR (202kg) and landed her on the podium in 3rd place. She hopes to earn a spot on the USA Olympic Team for the 2016 Games in Rio.
