But some teams just don’t get that much love from the city they play in. While teams like the Chicago Bulls and Dallas Cowboys lead their respective leagues in attendance every year, some teams always play in extremely empty arenas or stadiums.

I swear to god, nobody understands the issue with the rays. We play in fucking ST. PETERSBURGH.. a 45 min-hour long drive from Tampa. Nobody wants to get home at midnight when they have work the next day. This season, the rays ranked 18 in TV Ratings. HIGHER than both Los Angeles teams, the Houston Astros and the New York Mets. Areas with MUCH bigger markets. The solution IS NOT to relocate the rays to a different city, just simply build a new stadium IN Tampa.

To be fair to the rays, they have a huge fan base. as someone who has lived there, everyone loves them. the location is what sucks. it’s in st. Petersburg, and is a peninsula, which is connected to 5 counties by three bridges, two lanes each. traffic sucks. could take a solid hour to go ten miles just to get there. they need to build a stadium in downtown tampa next to Amilie Arena, then you’d see the true baseball market that’s there.

The Detroit Pistons have been struggling with attendance in the past 10 or so years, not much for their record but by the arena being 40 miles or so away from downtown. They relocated downtown for 2017, and now Detroit is the only city with all 4 major sports' venues within walking distance.
