It makes sense that a run in engine would be looser and more fuel efficient but I'm not sure how that works in reality. Personally I've acheived the best fuel economy in a new dmax with less then 2000 kms on the clock. I made it just over 900kms before needing to refuel and never seen those numbers again for as long as i owned it. Maybe it was a fluke where temperatures and wind conditions were in my favor

Somehow this still persists while the latest generation Santa Fe and Palisade no longer have diesel engines
