A.O.M Invisible Limiter V.S FabFilter PRO-L2

The Japanese made Invisible Limiter is a pretty strange one. It looks super analog but at the same time promises to deliver a clean and clear sound. Is this really true? And how does it compare with the FabFilter Pro-L2? It will all be answered in this video!

I always love the sound of the Invisible Limiter on my EDM tracks. It works just perfectly on anything I make.

The way you tested this plugin is not really fair. You just pushed 10 db of gain into the limiter until the signal started breaking and then compared it to something else. But in a real life situation no one in his right mind pushes a limiter on the mixbus that hard. The way you handled this test, any "transparent" limiter would have been "snake oil". Fair would have been to find the sweat spot for both and check the lufs values and see which one performs better. But THIS? This is some clickbait bs!

You did not compare to same style algorithm. It should be clip mode not suppress to really compare it as fab is in clip mode. I love your videos but this is not fair.

I'm a big fan of the AOM Invisible Limiter G2, tbh I've been using it in combination with Pro-L2 and instead of having one limit pretty hard, I have these two both limiting more subtle and I like what it sounds like on my Drum & Bass music. I agree tho, that text on their site is not what the thing actually sounds like haha

I like it when you correct then english of others.

Obviously it colours the sound. It's naive to think any limiter wouldn't colour the sound. The name 'invisible limiter' isn't mean to be taken literally, it's just super transparent, hence the name

That Sandstorm song is so good that everytime i hear it i notice new things!!! :)

Interesting that you didn't hear pro L2 distorting like hell and didn't try to optimize its settings. Especially lookahead, release and the used algorithm. But this seems obsolete nowadays. I've seen many so called Limiter tutorials where experts did nothing but pulling up one fader. I'd like you to seriously check out TDR Limiter 6 ... its demo doesn't create noise but forces you to really go into it and to learn at least 'something' about proper limiting. And after that look back at all these "limiterations". But on the other hand, if you don't hear obvious distortions ... :/

Try the free one called "Limiter Nº6"

This is a Flawed Test because Fab-Filter responds different to the algorithm you choose and not only that but the attack and release times will give you a different sound even if you chose a different algorithm. This is the same as comparing Izotope IRC 3 to IRC 4 it's just a plain stupid idea!

I've been using AOM Invisible for years after previously having the likes of L2, which I hated, and Elephant which was really difficult to use at the time. The real test is to use the unity gain so you can compare against the bypassed signal. You'll then hear how it does and doesn't affect the sound. Within sensible boundaries it's very difficult to hear it at work.

If you know how to mix you can get -10LUFS easily without more than a few db's of gain reduction. More than enough Luffage for a rough boost, and I notice more and more records mastered around this level.
I often use SIR Standard Clip shaving off some peaks beforehand which is also heralded for it's transparency. Perhaps another review for you to do!

That was preaty Transparent.... thats is meant by Invisible...
At -10 is sounding way more better than fab filter though...
Who agrees?

I'm using the AOM invisible limiter for almost any limiting. Invisible it is, because this plugin limits the hell out of your material... Without any noticeable coloring... Compared to other limiters. Imo it's the most "in your face" limiter there is atm. My friend uses the waves L2 before the AOM to get the little extra gain. But the ultimate weapon is... The stealth limiter from T-Racks in combination with the AOM. Nothing beats the loudness without distorting!

Not the best test, but better than their text on the site lol. I’m a big fan of the AOM limiter. I’ve tried using the same gain settings with pro L (aggressive algorithm) and with the invisible limiters clip algorithm. And then checked with izotope insight 2. AOM always got it slightly louder while retaining the original sound. Every single time I tested on multiple songs.

I personally apply gain with the invisible limiter, with the thru algorithm so it does not limit. Then use a pro L and mess with the algorithms to see which works best for the song. AOMs gain makes it much louder then Pro L does the proper limiting. It works very well for me :)

You should have tested the G2 and engaged unity gain monitoring + 512x oversampling to compare, as well as the different limiting modes (Modern / Clipping). It´s one of the best limiters, even used by Bob Katz etc.

Please try the Toneboosters Barricade v4 limiter vs the Fabfilter L2. Thanks

This was a really superficial comparison and not very useful IMO. It would have been more interesting to hear the difference at various different settings.

Actually this AOM sounds pretty solid man. Not snake oil, at all imho! -- And yes, I also do love FF everywhere on my sessions.
