These deals happen. Most likely, they will always happen. Bolton doesn't have the answer(s). Just, "I wouldn't have done it." That perspective solves nothing in my mind. I don't know if Whelan was spying or not. But it takes two to tango. Russia refused to negotiate Whelan's release with Griner. So, Griner should be suffering in a Russian penal colony, for nine years, because Russia refused to release Whelan? I don't agree with that. And, people want to blame Biden, when it's Russia holding Americans and refusing to negotiate? People are so blinded by their dislike and/or hatred of Joe Biden, they can't see clearly. Opportunity is knocking at the door and Bolton, for example, is ignoring it. Who are Bouts contacts? Where is he getting the weapons? Where are the weapons being stored? How are weapons being transported? What types of weapons? How many? Who's receiving the weapons? Who's paying for the weapons? I could go on. Russia "wanted him out." I think, so did we. He was getting out, in a few years anyway. We can USE Bout as much as Russia, especially if he goes back into business. Put bias aside and look at the bigger picture. Surveillance can be a beautiful thing and can provide very useful intelligence. Besides, even Trump who had a "great relationship, with Russia", couldn't get Whelan released. Stop crying foul and make the situation work for the U.S. We got Griner back. Keep trying to free Paul Whelan, and Marc Fogel. Do it strategically without listening to the peanut gallery. They're all speculating and don't know the situation any more than anyone else, probably less. I've been living overseas, for years and I don't feel any more "endangered" by Griner's release.
