There is nothing like the moment when Jesus takes your sorrow and turns it into joy! The circumstance may not have changed, but when he steps in and walks closer with you it does brighten up your heart. Thank you Preacher!

I am so full of joy today, for many prayers are answered. My Grandson just today got a unanimous vote from the congregation to be Senior Pastor at a local Church. Wow, joy in knowing he is happily serving the Lord. What a calling. Pray for him, his name is Brandon.

I liked learning that my heart shall rejoice when HE SEES ME. Not the other way around. That is good scripture to think on to understand better.

Awesome study, Dr. Bagwell! Really enjoyed this today! The disciples did not understand verse 16. This is a cryptic saying. It is a hidden saying or veiled saying. In John 16:25, Jesus calls this a proverb. "A little while"/μικρόν/mikron. Jesus is reminding them again that He is going to the cross. He will be crucified and buried (will not see HIm) and then He will be resurrected (they will see Him). He goes to the Father somewhere during that time. He ascended to Heaven and sprinkled His eternal blood on the altar in the presence of God the Father. Verse 17 probably does not include John when discussing the disciples. They don't comprehend what the Lord is saying. There was some things Jesus wanted to teach the disciples, but they could not handle the load. We have never seen the Lord physically. However, Jesus is coming again! He will descend from heaven, and He will call His children home. AMEN! "Desirous"/θέλω/thelō. Jesus knows that their hearts desire is for Him to explain this to them. We should all believe in the "blessed hope" (Titus 2:11-13). We don't see Him now, but we will see Him in a little while. Amen! If we truly believe this, we will live a cleaner life. 25 times in John's Gospel we see "Verily, verily". Jesus says this when He puts great emphasis on His statements. "Weep and lament" means to cry out loud like a baby, sobbing. "Weep"/κλαίω/klaiō. "Lament"/θρηνέω/thrēneō. The world rejoices when Jesus is gone. Why? Because He points out their sin. "Sorrow"/λύπη/lupē. You sorrow will be birthed into joy. "Woman"/γυνή/gunē. "Travail"/τίκτω/tiktō. "Delivered"/γεννάω/gennaō. "Anguish"/θλίψις/thlipsis/ refers to the pressure, the birthing process. "Man"/ἄνθρωπος/anthrōpos. The woman doesn't remember the pain of the childbirth once the baby is born. Jesus is telling them that all of the pain they are going to go thru will result in ultimate joy. Jesus said, "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted". Amen! Jesus doesn't tell them that they will have to find Him, He tells them in verse 22 that He will come to them. "Rejoice" means to brighten up. We should have that resurrection joy, that Holy Spirit joy, that fruit of the Spirit. "Taketh"/αἴρω/airō. "Ask" means to ask question. He tells them they won't be wondering what "a little while" means. A lot of our questions will be answered when He comes again. "Ask"/αἰτέω/aiteō. All the way thru the upper room sermon, prayer is given again and again. Six times Jesus brings up prayer in His last words to His disciples. He makes it clear that prayer is essential. "Nothing"/οὐδείς/oudeis. "Receive"/λαμβάνω/
lambanō. We can go boldly before the throne to the Father. This was such a great study! Thank you so much for doing these!
