HipZu Funk presents Final ASL Performance of Happy by Pharrell Williams

Dear HipZuFunk Community,

The team can’t believe how fast time has flown since we started in March 2014. An idea that brewed in a local coffee shop and transformed into a stage production. This is something we could not have done without your support.

Our passion of spreading positivity, life and funk through dances, ASL drum songs, and song performances was a journey we will cherish. We want to thank the community for giving us opportunities to share our production with y’all - from Texas School for the Deaf’s Ranger Triathlon, Flash Mobs on South Congress Avenue, FitnessZeal’s Open House, Texas School for the Deaf Community Show, an interview with DeafNation, an episode with ASLNook, San Diego’s Unity Day, Mississippi School for the Deaf, an appearance at ZeeZumba class, DeafNation Expo and at Austin Community College.

We want to thank several individuals who have shared their talents, passion and time with us to help make our production and ideas come to life before we took it “on the road”— Andres Otalora, Summer Crider Loeffler, and Miles Barbee.

As we reflect on our journey, we know time has come to a point where we recognize our team has embarked on different journeys that will take us farther with our passion in different fields. We will always cherish this journey we shared with you, the community, and thank you for your support and for believing in us from the start.

We are closing this chapter with HipZu Funk and look forward to new beginnings that will enfold from our experiences that we gained from HipZu Funk’s chapter. With this closure, we are releasing our never seen before footage outside of our stage production with the song, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. Enjoy.
