I'm a trans guy who left JWs. When I was like 13 I asked all the oldest people in my congregation for the oldest watchtower disk they had. I was trying to figure out how to stop being trans. I found an article from 1915 that said "even the homosexual hates the transexual" that's at least the oldest article I found. Probably the one that most gets in my head sometimes.

In my uncle's congregation, a trans woman showed interest in the religion. The body of elders at the time were hesitant to make her de-transition before her baptism. They actually felt bad to make her go through something like that. My uncle also was an elder and he told his council boiz that, "Look, she identified as a woman almost all her life. I think it's fair that we call her our sister instead of calling her bro. (insert name here)." So the elders just started calling her sis. (insert name here). I don't think anyone in the congregation knew she was trans. I think she was put under the condition that she does not marry. (I don't actually know if she had the desire of marriage tbf)

I hope she's actually happy though. I understand that these stories are kind of embellished and does not portray the actual treatment within that congregation. It was a well-kept secret that my uncle had to be drunk to tell us the story lmao.

One of the most dishonest things Matt did in his "documentary" was the editing to fit the narrative. When it came to speaking with someone who actually coherently answer, I believe it was a professor of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies at University of Tennessee, Matt deliberately edited the content to gloss over the full explanation, like a montage of small clips, making it seem like it was all just nonsense, so we really don't know what that Professor actually said.

Years a go I remember reading an awake article 30 years ago about transforming. They basically said it doesn't bring them happiness and that they should remain as they are. Yes for years they didn't touch this issue with a 10 foot watchtower.
