It's hard for many parents to get kids up for school, but in one Long Island school district, more than 100 children now have to wake up even earlier. As CBS2's Carolyn Gusoff reports, kids at one Lindenhurst school now have to walk to school after getting bumped from bus service.

This happened back in 1990 when I was attending 8th grade at the JHS. They cut the budget for buses, we had to walk. The school board ran the budget vote three times until it was approved for buses and sports again.

Lindenhurst did that too for the library renovation too. Keep running it until it gets approved, can't take a no.

I attended this school from 2003-2006. Lived ~1.7 miles away, north of Route 27. I'd almost always miss my bus because of sports, friends, etc. It took me 22 minutes to walk home. Little over 10 by bike. I know this town like the back of my hand and I can tell you that even if this kid lives at the southernmost end of S.12th, at the dead end that abuts Concord Ave., there is no way it takes him 30 minutes. If a 13 year old _boy_ is tired from walking a little over a mile, it's time to hit the treadmill.

If that one boy the dad was talking about walks past the bus, couldn't he just walk to the closest bus stop and get on there? Couldn't all the kids do that? Walk to the closest stop.

I walked to HS in the 70s, 1.3 miles. Sometimes in the snow. A line has to be drawn somewhere, and it's unfair that someone just outside the line will get to school much faster than someone inside the line. Life is often unfair. Maybe they should relax the line in the mornings so they don't get to school tired, but let them walk back home.

When I was going to school I had to walk, with the obesity on the rise it wouldn’t hurt them to walk, PLUS it would lower your taxes not having to pay for busses, drivers AND clear our roads. Sorry to say I’m Not Feeling any sympathy.

I ain't trying to here these lazy parents, I had to walk a mile and a half to school, these parents are comical, but your kids have no problem walking around town or hanging out with friends. Some of these parents are just ridiculous
