Composed by Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1643-1704). From Concerts Parodiques, 1732.

Claire Lefilliâtre, soprano
Les Épopées

The versatile Charpentier also composed secular airs in multiple genres, more than thirty of which survive. He produced some two dozen examples of the airs sérieux (or its successor, the air tendre, now with basse continue). In Oiseaux de ces bocages (Birds of these groves), a da capo air with a wistful B section, Charpentier's restatement of the final phrase of the A section switches from minor to major.

I was wondering if you had any French piece that talks about the sea in any way? I’m trying to program a recital and I’m sure you might have something.
