This is 100% accurate. I switched from Kyokushin to Mauy Thai because because I moved to a city with no Kyojushin dojo and spent the first several weeks being punched in the face having no idea what to do about it lmao.

As a kyokushin yellow belt I can confirm that we don’t defend our face from punches since we don’t punch in the face each other and so we are not adapted to it and I actually have that problem when I spar with my friends who are other martial artists
