Join me for a walk around the heart of Britain's most historic royal town: Windsor! Home to the largest, oldest and longest-continuously-inhabited castle not just in the UK, but the whole world, Windsor's history is intrinsically linked with that of the Royal Family, with every monarch of England and then Britain since 1066 having resided at the famous Windsor Castle.

There's so much to see on a walk around Windsor, and in this tour, we pass just a few of the town's best landmarks, including Windsor Castle, Windsor Guildhall, The Crooked House of Windsor, Queen Charlotte Street (the shortest street in England), The Carpenters Arms, The Prince Harry, Church Street Gardens, the old King's Head Pub, Nell Gwynn's House, Peascod Street, The Curfew Tower, Thames Street, the Theatre Royal, the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel, the River Thames, Eton, the Jubilee Arch at Windsor Royal Station, the Church of St. John the Baptist, the Irish Guards Statue, the 'Ancient Well', a blue postbox, Park Street, The Two Brewers, and the Long Walk.

Thank you so much to the following sites for their help in my research of Windsor:

When I go to London, Windsor is my favorite place to go to. I stayed across the street from the castle last time I went, 2 days at Windsor, Thank you for your time and effort in making this video. It's almost like being there again. Thanks😊

This is wonderful! Now I see why England needs their monarchy. To keep the history and beauty of the country.

It is untrue when you say that none of the original castle remains. Most of the original structure remains but it was "cosmetically enhanced" by Architect Jeffrey Wyatt during the reign of George IV who wanted to make it look more medieval. He also raised the Round Tower by about twenty feet. There is also another way into the Castle from Thames Street. Near the statue of Prince Christian there is a private gateway built by Wyatt being the entrance to the Hundred Steps. The GeorgeIII equestrian statue at the far end of the Long Walk is locally known as the Copper Horse although I think it is bronze!
You may have noticed the Thai Square restaurant on the corner of Thames St. and River St. That was originally my Great-Grandfather's butchers shop and his name Harris still appears, carved in gold in a red granite slab at the front. The abattoir was just behind the shop and he lived over the top. He was town Mayor in 1912 and received the Freedom of the Borough in 1948 just after Princess Elizabeth.

It’s a lovely place for the most part. One thing I don’t understand about the British however, we have lovely old towns and cities full of beautiful old architecture but we allow the construction of hideous new buildings in amongst them.

My home town . . . . . . might well have stayed but left in 1974 due to ever-increasing noise pollution from LHR's air traffic.
