Additional notes:
1. I'm sorry if I've mispronounced any (European) names in this video; I tried my best to say them correctly and if I messed them up, it's not on purpose.
2. I've also tried my best to be clear about what is based on speculation and what is based on evidence. Of course the nature of certain relationships are up for interpretation and I'm not the authority on them.
4. This is a really interesting topic which challenges the romanticized illusion of heteronormativity that is associated with the early twentieth century and also serves as an important part of women's and lesbian history that is worth documenting.

As a woman of colour - thank you so much to learn more about the badass leadership of Joesephine Baker & Anna May Wong - wow, living their best lives while having to deal with the triple threat of homophobia, racism, and sexism ....

I'm now firmly convinced that the person issuing the official lesbian cards in Old Hollywood was Marlene Dietrich.

Not a lesbian but god do I love this channel, especially its historical epics. As a huge fan of old Hollywood and it's gender/sexuality norms as tied to those who broke it, this is right up my alley. Can we get a second part?👀👀

You're, once more, doing the gay goddess' work. This is a public service and we thank you for you work! ❤

I absolutely loved every minute of this. Even though much of this is based on rumors and speculation, you clearly thoroughly researched these women and gave us perspective on the times in which they lived. One of my favorites that you left out is Kay Francis. There's a lot of information online/in books about her presumed bisexuality/lesbianism. Anyway, thanks for making this!

Anna Mae Wong is one of the women honoured on a US quarter coin. I went to several shops trying to get one of them before I was successful. I love the coin, and the entire series it is from.

Mercedes de Acosta was definitely a lesbian player. Although she wasn’t an actress herself, she makes me wish New Hollywood was a fraction as interesting as Old Hollywood.

“Then again, the dislike could be tied into lesbian drama”. Quote of the video. Loved this. 😂

My Great Uncle was a teen Chaffuar for Miss Bankhead in Montgomery AL in the early part 〽️ f the 2930s. Miss Bankhead was the daughter of a prominent banking Family in Montgomery, AL. My Great grandfather was a builder in B'Ham and as my Grandmother and her 2 brothers were raised by my Great grandparents, my Uncle ran away from home and met Miss Bankhead in Montgomery .They had a mutual fondness for booze and Shananagans. "Tallu" was Zelda Fitzgerald's best friend for many years.
They were both Montgomery Debutantes and schoolmates. Many things go on in Sleepy Southern Towns you would not believe! 💜👍

When there is so much on the menu, well I am reminded of that line from Auntie Mame “That life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death“ 💄

Wonderful narration and the photos are great. For all the beautiful, artistic and sensitive souls, old Hollywood was an unsurvivable viper's nest of gossip and exploitation. The Clara Bow story is especially sad.

Yessss 👏🏻 This was SO good! It’s nice to see someone doing the research and giving a fair assessment as to whether or not they were lesbian. I’m so tired of the crappy gossip books that are based on fiction. I also learned a lot despite my own research (Claudette’s final will-wowza!), so this made it all the more worthwhile! Bravo!
