Every time you read about the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, you can be sure you’re going to see some mention about its history. While we won't linger on that for too long, the G-Class' history is certainly something of a marvel. In a time of changing designs and the definition of the term SUV becoming more flexible, the G-Class remains true to its roots, refusing to water down its essence. Now though, the old-school and undeniably cool Gelandewagen gets more sensible in what is just its third generation since 1979. Does it still have the hairy chested and stubbornly individualistic soul of a G-Wagen? We drive the popular Mercedes-AMG G63 to find out.
