Finally...a real mechanic who tells it like it is. 👏👏👏

Old cars had no tensioner, you would push the alternator with a prybar by feel and tighten up. This is a real PITA.

If that looks complicated. Try replacing the belt with the engine still inside the vehicle.

I currently have a 2003 and a 2005 Ford model and I'm not giving those vehicles up for anything. Also had an '87 Mustang GT 5.0 and a '97 Thunderbird 4.6. All those cars had one simple serpentine belt which took care of ALL the accessories. I really miss those cars. So easy to work on. That's why I'm not letting go of the '03 or the '05.

Ford is notorious for doing lil shit things to make it fun to work on. Earliest I remember is with the 9 inch differential housing where on the last bottom bolt you cannot use a socket, you have to use a box wrench and it slows you down. Recently, the 2.7 ecoboost engines have the weeping oil pan but you can’t simply just pull the pan off. You have to completely remove the transmission cooler lines because they are hell bent in the way purposely to slow you down in removing and replacing the oil pan. The transmission cooler lines could have been further away from the block as there is plenty of room but some engineer thought it be funny to be slick and make it harder for mechanics.

Literally Everly half turn you gotta push the belt as far back on the pump as possible. Nice! Ima save 270 bucks at my local shop. It's a 2018 fusion!

I'm glad I came across this video cuz I was definitely stuck after looking under the engine I said damn where is the pulley at how the hell do you get this belt on or off I guess to get it off I assumed you just cut it off if it's already worn out

Haven't watched this video yet but I was gonna ask you if the fusion had a tensioner or if it was a stretchy belt. You must have red my mind

I need to do this instillation with the engine in the car. I assume turning this pulley wont do any damage while in park? I know people turn over the motors using a ratchet on older cars all the time but I just wanted to make sure since newer vehicles can be strange.

Perhaps the engineer who designed the original block could have had a hand with this as well.

Least favorite huh? Lol what about the thermostat with the motor still inside of the vehicle?

Put a small screw clap to hold belt on while you turn harmonic balancer to walk belt on

The alternator rotate as a Belt tensioner, why you just dont loose and rotate it?

Maybe I missed it in 1 of the videos - is this all warranty work?

do you have to remove the engine to do this? or is it just out for the sake of the video?
