Diablo 4: Season of the Malignant - Everything You Need to Know

The folks at Blizzard announced the first details for Season One of its hit ARPG: Diablo 4, titled the "Season of the Malignant". You won’t have to wait long as the season will debut on July 20th! Now that we’ve had time to soak in the zombie-filled gore: here’s everything you need to know about season one of Diablo 4.

The first season is called Season of the Malignant, and it takes place after the events of Diablo 4’s campaign. Use the new season mechanic of Caged Hearts to use unique powers for the season and help Cormond stem the tide of corrupted monsters spreading across Sanctuary.

The important thing here is map progress is carried over, though I'm worried their implementation sounds a bit sketchy (in that you have to log in after the patch on the 18th but before the season starts to protect your progress).

The seasonal mechanics seem alright, but I'm confused as to why we even need more powerful builds. It'd be nice if they added a new uber boss or pinnacle dungeon that is tuned really high to need a stupidly broken build to beat.

No social features. Trading, loot hunt is lacking lead to a boring endgame

what happens to seasonal characters after the season ends, are they dead, or will the new gems/gear just delete from character inventory and they will move to eternal realm?
