Wow! Thank you for this. I've volunteered in Xi'an, China twice over 10 years ago and miss it so much! I was there for 3 weeks the 1st time and stayed for 6 weeks the 2nd time. I stayed near the Muslim Quarter and explored everywhere during my free time. Once the other volunteers & I were at the Great Mosque and stumbled upon a traditional Muslim funeral. We were shocked to see men carrying the deceased into the Mosque on a stretcher with just a sheet draped over the body instead of the coffin. We hung around for just a couple of minutes and then left out of respect to the mourners. When I visited the Terracotta Museum, I've met the farmer who discovered the Terracotta Army Mr. Yang Zhifa and got an autograph for his book. That is still one of my treasured souvenir to this day. I loved Xi'an and found it to be safe and the people there so lovely and kind. However, no one there can speak any English! Twice I was there and found it to be the same. Only the people I've volunteered with spoke English so they would write a little note for me in Chinese whenever I want to go somewhere. I would just waved down a taxi, showed the driver the note and he'd take me there. Of course, I always carried a card with the apartment's address on it so I can always get home safely. Since I lived near the Muslim Quarter and most places are close by, I can just walk everywhere without any problems. Since they don't speak English & I don't speak any Chinese, a lot of sign language was involved ... LOL! Anyway, it was a great experience and everything turned out just fine in the end. Too bad the Xi'an branch I've volunteered with has since closed down. Otherwise, I'd come back and work with them again in an instant!!!

Thanks for another video. I was in the Czech Republic to get my CELTA to teach English abroad back in March, but the pandemic hit right when I got there, and I had to return to the states. I saw your recent video about new teachers interested in coming to China. I may consider trying to go abroad again, definitely appreciate your videos to know that it's possible.

Well Done. I miss Xi'an even more after watching your video. I've always said, it's almost impossible to capture is many complexities but you've come the closest. Like and Subscribed.

When I visited in 2018, I went to about 9 of these 12 locations, as well as 2-3 that you didn't mention. I stayed really close to the muslim quarter. It's still probably my favorite trip I've made inside China. Yunnan and Huangshan are also both up there.

Hi Red Dragon. I'm in travel business. If you don't mind, would you please to let me know if you have any travel agent in Xi'an that you may recommend me to handle a group tour in Xi'an. Thank you and highly appreciated for your information.

Hi Tom. Off topic question. I'm curious to know if you have incurred in discriminating behavior towards you because you are foreign-specifically since cvid? Do you know if there's a curve of such discrimination, especially towards Africans who live there? I've read how many were treated very terribly since this virus.
