Choreography - Dr. Sheela Unnikrishnan
Dancers:
Harinie Jeevitha
Kameshweri Ganesan
Sanjena Ramesh

This is a hymn on Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. The dancers celebrate the Lord's glory and offer salutations to Him.

Oh leader of Ganas,
Oh Lord of the people,
Salutations to You!

Oh embodiment of virtues,
The one adorned with merits,
The master of moral values,
Salutations to You!

To the Lord with one tusk,
To the one with a trunk,
To the son of Goddess Gowri,
My prostrations!

To the leader of elephants,
To the one who adorns a crescent moon,
To Sri Ganesha,
My prostrations!

The Lord who is the life and soul of music,
The Lord who is intoxicated in music,
The Lord who is the leader of all Teachers,
The Lord who is worshipped by all preceptors,
We worship You!

Oh, the one who is the quintessence of Gita,
The Lord with round ankles,
The one who has the fragrance of sandal wood,
The giver of all boons,
We worship You!

Having a theme with continuity. One message and building on it with meaning is always a challenge, in my opinion. They acculturated their message. The dance was like a poem, in some ways.

I want to say something. Maybe no one will read it, but I feel need to say. India is such beautiful and rich culture. No one should ever be embarrassed to be Indian. I say this because I know a lot of Indians who sometimes feel embarrassed of their culture, but embrace it!! It’s one of oldest and richest cultures full of intriguing traditions. Be proud! 🇮🇳 love from a Mexican 🇲🇽

I'm always delighted with the conection between the feet of Indian dancers and the floor: so rooted and light at the same time. Thanks for posting.

Bruh, the muscles needed for that level of balance and that fluid-ish movement is mindblowing :O Beautiful dance, thank you for sharing!

Я Бога молю, чтобы индусы не забывали свою великую древнюю культуру музыки, танца, философии, одежды, украшений, еды. Много умного и красивого придумано индусами. Благослови Бог Индию! С любовью из России.

I am completely ignorant of the meaning of the looks, the gestures, the steps, the changing body positions and why some parts of the dance involve the dancers dancing in unison and others have them following different movements. Either way, the dancers seem to act as one entity. The classical Indian music that accompanies a single male singer moves with the dancers and the singer's voice. The golden jewelry catches the light as the yellow metal intensifies the purple color of their clothes. So much of this is unlike the classical dance here in the West. Yet it is mesmerizing. And beautiful. How are they able to make their hands seem as fluid as a wave upon the water? How do they move their legs straight out to the side, with the knees deeply bent and yet with their feet parallel to the floor? All I can say is that I have found an art form that is new to me, that is amazing to witness and beautiful to behold.

These three girls have moulded their legs into another set of hands n with sharp movements took the audience into a different world. God be with them n their Gurus. Marvellous performance.

As a former Bharatnatyam student who had to give up dance due to academic pressure, I cannot help but admire you. You girls are incredible in your perfection of postures, expressions, synchronized movements...You remind me of my days of practice. ❣️

This is so beautiful. The dance totally shows the ancient Indian style and religion stories. Some poses just same as the art on the stand in the back . The dress and accessories and hair everything else was so elegant and beautiful. I like everything in this video. I even want to learn it. Thanks for uploading.

Watching this makes me want to study Hindu devotional dance. It's ballet, sign language, yoga, prayer, and storytelling, all at once, and it's breathtaking to watch such beautiful young women do it so well and joyfully. Thanks for sharing!

Delightful! How skilfully graceful these dancers are. I am an African (in the US) and my dad says that he grew up watching such beautiful dancing in Indian movies of the actor Dhara Singh that were very popular back then in Africa.
