This is a click-bait piece to promote the channel and get YouTube views. It's a dark side of YouTube. Alzheimer's develops slowly, but that is conjecture here, not fact. My wife and I were on a Holland America Bahamas cruise a little over a year ago sponsored by Gaither Music. It was amazing and so inspiring! They have slowed down, it's a grueling schedule, but Bill made every performance, and their sponsored singers are a wonderful, close-knit group. He did a few of the songs at every show, but their professional "family" did most of it. Their shows and cruises have sold out quickly for many years and they are booking through 2026 at this time. That schedule will continue as they have a strong following and an organization that does not depend totally on the Gaithers to continue it. In January Bill announced he is retiring "due to health concerns". They have not told anyone that there is an Alzheimer's diagnosis. I expect he and Gloria will continue to make numerous performances in a much more passive role. Gloria actually is much more limited in her physical ability and stamina than Bill is. Gloria's health is a significant reason he is retiring. Bill will be 89 and Gloria will be 83 on each of their birthdays next month (March 2025). They have been married for 63 years.
