Strikeforce's Ronda Rousey on Gratuitous Violence, Arm Bars + Women's MMA

MMA H.E.A.T.'s Karyn Bryant catches up with Strikeforce fighter Ronda Rousey at Antoni Hardonk's Dynamix Martial Arts, and gets her thoughts on a number of topics, including: her recent controversial arm bar victory over Sarah D'Alelio, the balancing act female fighters go through to win new fans and what the transition from Olympic Judo to MMA was like.  (Ronda won a Bronze medal in Judo at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and has so far been undefeated in MMA.)  She also talks about her kickboxing training with former UFC fighter Hardonk, and her upcoming fight with Julia Budd, which is set to take place at Strikeforce Challengers 20 on November 18, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Wow she looks much better now at 134, you can tell around her face an shoulders that she really dropped some weight. She also said she preferred the new weight and it was better for her arthritis

@grahamhg you sure? Cyborg is a World BJJ champion and bronze medalist at ADCC against Judoka who only has armbars. Judo is mostly throws I will take high level BBJ fighter over Judoka on the ground any day.

@GracieJits925 Oh, and remember she has like 6 MMA fights and has won them all by armbar spending less than 5 minutes in a cage in total. Just a guess, but she might be able to take your arm in less than a minute too :P

@grahamhg BJJ and Judo are not the same, my country is one of the best Judo countries I watched guys go from competing in local tournaments to winning Olympic gold and world Championships. Judoka can throw the hell out of BBJ guy and roughhouse him/her in the clinch but on the ground I give edge to BJJ fighter. Judokas are probably more crafty with armbars but that's it, IMO.

@kreed82 She has been doing movies for the past 18 months. Just like former LHW champ Rampage did. And now who's fighting for the title this coming weekend?... Taking time off to explore a different field and spend time with one's family is hardly being non ambitious. And as far as not making weight, give me a break, she failed to make weight for 1 fight, the other she weighed over and had to take her clothes off, after reweighing she made weight. So officially 1 time not making weight...
