Pocketbook Gets GOOGLE PLAY | Inkpad X Pro Review

Pocketbook is a brand that has been developing and releasing commercial e-readers to the public for over a decade. The company has always used Linux as an operating system, which made things super stable and provided long battery life. They have just released the Pocketbook InkPad X Pro, which is notable for a couple of reasons. It is their first attempt at digital paper, a e-notebook where users can freehand draw, take notes and edit PDF files. It is also the first Pocketbook product to employ Android and provide full access to the Play Store. Pocketbook told me that their e-reader line will continue to use Linux, whereas future e-notes will employ Android.

This actually looks nice, and a big level up from PocketBook. I hope they manage to polish it further.

I would love a video breaking down features of different apps on Google play so we can see the different options on android e-readers.

It's a good step, and I wanted to like it but seems slow and kind of buggy but maybe after updates it will improve but for me the big problem is no speaker., I like to read in daytime but at night like to fall asleep with sound

i prefer the guided linux experience on their e-readers, hope they keep that around! Going all android would bother me

Quite disappointing that it only runs Android *8.1*, a very old version. I know several apps that I use day-to-day wouldn't be able to run on this device. I realise with the apparent performance issues they mightn't run very well anyway, but at least there'd be the option.

But why Android 8.1? It will not be supported for much longer.

Peter, why do you hold a Boox tab device next to the X Pro to compare the screen surface? Why not a Notes device, like the Boox Note Air3, which offers a very good surface for writing?
And: please compare these two devices - especially since they can be purchased at a comparable price.
Although the Boox Note Air3 has incomparably better features.

Hi, how does this compare to something like Onyx Boox Note Air 3? From your reviews it seems that the onyx has probalby better performance overall but more glassy, slippery screen. Is that a fair summary?

For people who want to De-Google their lives and get away from Big Tech, Pocketbook eReaders are the way to go. With that said. The Inkpad X Pro is a step backwards if you are attempting to reach that goal. However, if that is not your goal then I would think an actual Android tablet would be more fitting. An eReader should be just that, an eReader. A single purpose device, dedicated to only reading. That's all most want. It's the very reason this company as well as Kobo and amazon's kindle line, is successful.
