Totally agree with the comment about the need for a WRT/ASD course. Also the fact that it is a lot like the operating room vs being a field medic or corpsman. I’ve been teaching WRT/ASD for 20 years and I have seen countless new companies come through our program and be successful.

I love your counterintuitive suggestions- no equipment, no logo, etc. Not having insurance scares me a bit, but I guess you could get it set up and then call your agent on the way to the first project.

Keep up the good work. I recommend your channel to all my classes.

Great advice Shane. IMHO the information about leads is the biggest thing. I would love to learn more from you about building a lead strategy.

Don’t buy a piece of equipment until you have a job to put it in that will pay for it . For example 1 week of time for a 600 cfm negative air will buy that machine. Now you have it for free for your next job that’s the best way to acquire equipment over time

My partner and I started a couple months ago and we’ve been flooded with work. We have an accountant, mit tech and laborer. My partner and I wear many hats. At times we walk jobs, advertise, do mit work, pack outs and whatever else comes with owning a full service restoration business. However, our biggest area of need is getting estimates out for mit/recon and dealing w adjusters/ TPA’s. Would your next hire be an estimator, GM or Mitigation manger ? GM’s and estimators cost more but are more available than MIT techs/Mit managers.

my advice is go work for several companies first. They are always short staff and need people. It will be hell, but thats the best training there is.
