Some people keep saying he "back-tracked, " but that's not a fair description.

Guy had a bad take, ignorant of the biggest issue with it (barring access to countries without legal/ToS access PS-accounts).
He was informed, realized his position was ignorant, admitted and apologized for it, and moved forward with new information to a morally good conclusion.

His zeal for what he believed didn't change (he wasn't backing away), his wrong belief did, and he sac'd himself for that fresh belief.
That's called integrity.
He didn't "backtrack, " he pushed forward the way people ought to.
