Math is universal. She asked to show six and all showed six fingers. Which fingers they raise is not the question. Did anyone raise six toes or six pineapple? Even if they had, the concept is still six. If you think that by what objects you count by makes a difference in concept of counting, you miss the entire point of mathematics.

May I have some of your ideas on making quilts with my students? Thank you.

This is an awesome look at how CRP can happen at all grade levels and in all subjects. Thank you for the clear examples and resources!

It's sad seeing how positive people are about handicapping their students' development.

Great knowledge! But I couldn’t help but notice those arms.

Want to master mathematics? (1) Learn arithmetic operations division, multiplication, addition, and subtraction. (2) Memorize multiplication of whole/real numbers at least up to 12x. (3) Understand the purpose of the number zero. (4) Follow the commutative, associate, and distributive laws. (5) Practice the proper order of operations. Then the fundamental disciplines of mathematics are yours to master and to enjoy!

Math is math. You've just taught it in a cultural context. Math isn't carpet laying, if I've used it to work out how big a room is.

I agree with 4:13. Not all students[learning children] have the guidance for reinforcement and guided change of world outlook.

Culturally relevant lesson for the week; using children to implore the government to shut down small businesses via legislation.

Entry point into math: trust me, you are a victim, exploit victimhood in order to gain power over minorities and POCs.

Step 1 demonstrate that students are less than their neighbors by teaching them to covet what their neighbors have

Step 2 use government intervention and force to even the playing field

The biggest determining factor in the development of a child is a two parent home. This sort of teaching is attempting to fix a symptom and not the source of the actual problems.

She had mixed up the written / graphic expressions of numerics with numerical calculations.

You show 6 in different ways on your fingers and she thinks that proves math is cultural? You have got to be kidding me!

What is the current curriculum that you have that's not going to do it?

How do you cite this video in APA format on paper. Please let me know.

This is outstanding, and to be perfectly honest, I never thought of how to apply CRP within the context of math. CRP really is about empowering the students to learn and to prosper, and I’m thankful that you really emphasize this in your presentation. Also, thank you for the different ideas that you presented in this, it really makes me want to work harder as a professional and use the information to help to bring CRP into my next math lesson.

I am a Math Professor. This is nonsense. Students learn Math based on their willingness and effort, not on their cultural roots. All the cultures agree on Math, no matter how they count. Millions of people from hundreds of cultures write mathematical papers every year, meet at conferences and agree on math facts. How can we stop this nonsense?

Next step. The oregon math plan where multiple answers are correct 🤦‍♂️

I knew when I saw the still picture and "Ph.D." that this was going to be a lot of BS.

How do they determine if an infinite series is convergent in Tanzania? Show me the hand-gesture proof, please. 😂

Since maths is cultural one needs cultural literacy of the culture in question.
