This is the setup I've shown in the last few videos now just being closer to finalized with a primary coil. The idea is to run it full wave CW but have an interrupted mode via the mains sync. I'll need a bigger heatsink to play with this at full power but it seems to work out ok detuning it for lower output.
With a 10A or so variac I'd be more comfortable just cranking it full blast and pulling the bigger arcs but these are already fairly large compared to what I can pull in other builds.

PLL doesn't seem to mind it pulling arcs to ground either. I really just need to figure out what's going on with the input current and my meter might be getting wacked out by the field or I guess not having a line filter. Half wave rectification seems like it also would have looked pretty cool. I'm thinking this minimal build should run the hot arcs fine at max power, but I need to get it tuned best for running straight off 120VAC and no variac.
