there's also input delay to consider. playing online trains you to expect certain timings that are just slightly off when playing local.

I think the fact that your opponent isn't literally right next to you, which would generate shame, is what allows people to go through with it. I think it is purely an emotional connection thing like Toph said. The ability to be super lame to someone who is basically just an AI to you is much like the ability to scream your head off at all the cars in traffic. There's no face, those aren't people. They're just cars.

Its crazy how different the vibe is, I dont get mad when im playing irl friendlies but if I jump on unranked and get bodied or someone is just making fun of how bad i am I go to the sunken place. Also never thrown a controller or got audibly angry during tournament matches but on ranked im slamming my desk and yelling. Melee should be played in person, I think slippi is bad for my mental health lol. Definitely not saying that slippi isnt a marvel that keeps melee alive and helps people practice way more than could ever before I just personally get insanely butt hurt when i play online lol

Playing at locals is more fun than Slippi but that's only if I can actually play a game... Ultimate is more popular so I'm always waiting at least 30min to go 0-3 because the guy I'm supposed to be going against is fucking around in the Ultimate bracket. Combine that with an inconvenient schedule and it's not even worth going.

The issue I have with slippi atleast in the latest version is my controls feel unresponsive but when playing offline I have no issues at all, everything is smooth and responsive and combos are great but on slippi I can hardly ever get this to happen because it feels like there's input lag and it keeps me from playing competitively and actually enjoying the game so sometimes I'd rather just play offline against a cp because the lag makes it unplayable. Anyone else having this issue?

There is no such thing as playing lame the only thing that matters in the end is that you win if you can do it with amazing tech skill and style good but if you do it safe and boring it also doesn't matter all that matters is winning

i don't think its that slippi makes people play lamer per se, its just that it removed the main incentive to be hype
