I got the 12 pro max in gold, it’s been around 10 days and I’ve already spotted some scratches on the edges, while taking off my case even though I’m always careful with it. It bothers me a lot, that’s definitely something I don’t like about my new phone.

I have just tried this couples hours ago. I got different cream brand but basically did the same thing he did. Guess what, more scratches which really pissed my off. I’m like how the heck it got scratched with microfiber and polish cream itself. It got way more scratches that i had to return it and wait for another week for the new one to arrive. Lesson learned, just put the damn case on. Problem solved!!

It's simple really. Hard cases are like a hammer, and the dust/debris that will always get trapped between the case and the phone are the nails when you drop your device (and you will). Get a case with microfiber lining and don't worry about scratches anymore. Problem is that pretty much the only cases with microfiber lining are silicone cases, and those cases will not feel the same after 3 months due to wear and tear and you'll be stuck feeling raw rubber every time you pick up your phone.

You used far to much polish. A little goes a long way. That will get stuck in all the little crevices of the phone, clog up speakers etc. keep it away from the screen as that stuff can remove the special coating on the glass. Also use a proper microfiber cloth. Not a “paper towel”

It’s really shameful that apple didn’t resolve this issue which is there from iPhone X, XS, 11pro and now in 12 pro as well. This is only limited to silver iPhones.

I tried this on my silver 12 pro prior to watching this video but found that the metal polish leaves micro-scratches on the stainless steel sides. If you inspect the phone under a downlight you’ll see them. Unfortunately I don’t think there’s any way of completely removing scratches on the 12 pro silver due to it “mirror-like” finish.
