Also sold under the brand of NuTone, this range hood is a top seller. I show the noise level of the fan, the quietness is one of it`s important features. An important part of every kitchen`s ventilation above the stove.

This unit is notorious with the bulb sockets flattening out and lights flickering or not working. Easy fix as part is available on Amazon.

I can't find replacement bulbs for this. It was in the house we just bought, and the bulbs it came with still work but I've tried 3 different types of replacement bulbs and they just don't turn on

You are incorrect about the fumes not being caught. The from baffel vent/ridge near the lights have circulated air from the fan blowing out to create a vortex of air pushing towards the back and thus into the air intake area. This works VERY well... I have had this hood for 15 years and its the best that I have ever used....for the price point.

I use the medium base smaller sized body LED lightbulbs. Works great, they can barely be seen and look good anyway.

I've had 3 or 4 range hoods in our kitchen over the last 35+ years, and I currently have this Broan Allure unit installed.
Honestly no hood does a great job of sucking in all smoke and vapor from cooking. If you have 3-4 pots going on the stove, at least half of the vapors will escape around the hood. You would have to get an expensive heavy duty unit with roof-mounted motor to catch most of it.
Besides that, the filters they put in all these home units are crap, and they're dam expensive for a few ounces of lousy shredded aluminum. They only catch half the grease particles that go thru it. The rest collects inside the hood where it will actually start dripping after a while. Plus, after cooking bacon or frying fish, the odor clings to the filter and the whole kitchen stinks for several days. Sometimes we leave the hood on low speed continuously for 3 days. It helps.
As Bloeski says, halogen bulbs for this Broan unit are also expensive. They're very hot and they don't last that long. I finally replaced them with 5-watt PAR20 LED's made by FEIT (3000K color). But the flicker that Bloeski mentions is much more apparent with LED's on low intensity, so we use the high intensity only. The flicker is caused by using a simple diode to reduce power to the bulbs. If a more expensive dimmer circuit were employed, they would not flicker. The flicker was never a problem with halogen bulbs, but LED's are much more sensitive to power supply characteristics.
One thing that annoys me is the fan makes a loud ticking sound on low speed. It's probably just my unit being a little out of balance. The sound goes away at high speed, but then of course, the fan is much louder.

How often do you replace these range hoods? The fan and light switch no longer works in my allure. Anyone know an easy fix?

I have owned this model for over 5 years. The ventilation part works well and is relatively quiet. The lights suck. The bulbs that fit this model are halogen, don't last very long and are somewhat pricey. I have had to replace the bulb rocker switch twice. Over all this model isn't worth purchasing.

If it doesn’t trap fumes from the front I would not buy this . I cook bacon and eggs on the front of stove . Defeats the purpose imo
