If you can't source a cause, you can't say it's safe. If you're from the government wanting my trust, you've got to try harder than this! You waited 4 months to see if people were showing up at the local clinic or hospital with signs of poisoning before you even admit there's a problem?! Not exactly exuding trust on your part, is it.

The residents should have been notified. That's crazy.

Don't worry, if the unthinkable happens, you'll be the last to know & it will be well after the damage has been done.
