Galileo documented what he thought was star that turned out to be Neptune

#nature #natural #naturephotography Galileo recorded what he believed was a star but later turned out to be Neptune. His observations, made in 1612 and 1613 unknowingly documented the distant planet. It was not until 234 years later in 1846 that Neptune was officially discovered using mathematical predictions based on its gravitational effects on Uranus. Galileos unintentional sighting contributed indirectly to the later identification of Neptune in our solar system.
