Car rentals make so much of their money because they do scams like claiming their is damage while the person who rented it can’t argue as they have a plane to catch. Also the costs are lower as they do everything in bulk.

Time to learn how to fix some of this stuff. You can get a catalytic converter for this car for less than $300 at Advance Auto. $2 grand is absolutely highway robbery. The mafia wouldn't even charge you that much!

Depending on state you live in, it could be illegal for them to clear code like that, they usually just make you do it though from my experience.
