Today I am showing my new 'old' construction site. I will show some setting out and surveying doing the as built survey and will show you drawings as well. You will see the site under construction and preparations for kerb installation, paving and landscape works.
You will see a Total station setup and setting out works. You will learn how to mark a line correctly using a reference line program. I will show you ducts survey and later prepare as built drawing and explain why it is so important to keep this information right!

Hello Greg, when marking up column positions and grid lines in RC frame construction, do you use the 360 prism on prism pole? Do you get the required accuracy with this method as the prism is elevated above the point, thus relying on a steady hand and the accuracy of the spirit bubble in the pogo pole? Do you ever use the mini prism to achieve better accuracy? In this video you briefly covered marking the point, do you make an indent in the ground with the tip of prism pole, put the prism pole aside and then use a marker pen to mark an X. If you could demonstrate this process in one of your videos, also covering how you lay out the lines with the spray paint, I have seen it done whereby they use two bricks to tighten up the line on the ground and spray over the top of the line. Is it not easier to use auto linework while surveying so it automatically creates the polyline instead of doing it manually in AutoCAD?

Hi everyone. I am very familiar with the setting out procedure on site when I have known control points to set up the station over. However, I have been giving the task of setting out a new extension to an existing building. The CAD drawing has the existing building with the extension present but no proper X, Y, Z co-ordinates on it. There is also no known control point anywhere on this site.
Can someone please assist me on how I go about setting out this building?? Any help would be great
