Because that’s his mom and your mom is who you run to when you need comfort. But he pulls himself together and shows his character when he tells her to go celebrate with his younger brother. This shows she's a genuinely amazing mother. The fact that she can fully cheer and be ecstatic for Travis and then, just a few moments or a couple minutes later, let Jason lean on her shoulder a bit and cry with him is amazing. Also Jason's "Let's celebrate with Trav" shows how close those brothers are.
