A man I know went to go check on an older lady during the heat spell. He knocked several times and found no answer or movement inside. He checked the door and found it unlocked. He stepped in and spoke again. He saw the inside basement door open so he went to make sure she hadn't fallen down the stairs. He spoke again and she spoke. He went down and said he couldn't believe what he saw. He said the basement was lined with thousands of food items shelves upon shelves filled with food lined the basement. He told me "she's a hoarder, no one needs all that food". I kindly asked him to not share what he had seen and instead of judgment, how about he be proud instead, as this was his grandmother and the food was for the family to include him. I also reminded him she had known hunger and came from a country where if you had one can of food on the shelf you were considered rich. He agreed not to repeat his findings, but also found her stash unnecessary in America. I encouraged him to pay better attention to what is not being reported in the news.

There used to be a store called "Service Merchandise" in the 1980s and 90s. It had a showroom with display models only. You found what you wanted, browsed around, then walked up to the counter and paid for it. A conveyer belt from the warehouse in the back rolled the item you ordered down it. It was ahead of its time.

I too have switched to flouride free toothpaste. I shake my head every time my dental hygenist offers a flouride treatment to me during my cleaning. I ask every time, "You realize flouride is toxic, right?"

Update: I’ve saved $ 5-7.00 for toothpaste in the past two years by using baking soda to brush. A wealthy friend told me she has not used chemical toothpastes because they warn you not to swallow any. Plus she spends only $1.08 for a box of baking soda, which lasts ten times what one tube of toothpaste costs. Even the rich are cutting corners.

About a year ago, I bought a lot of instant coffee jars from Aldi, Beaumont brand, for about $3.50 each. I don't know what they cost now, they were the 8 Oz in glass jars. I thought I ran out last week but my wife found that we had stashed 12 jars in a box. I will have to price them next time I go to Aldi.

Years ago US Bank put a fee on checking accounts unless you kept a minimum balance of 3000.00 in checking. We did but that was beside the point, Im not paying for them to hold my money.
I went to close my account. They asked why and I told them, they said dont worry there are way's around that, I said I know and Im choosing the one where I change banks. I got my money out and went to a credit union and have never looked back.

Update : Work at a tire chain where we sell between 30~50 tires a week. Only got 5 tires from our weekly shipment to replenish our stock. Customer needed an outer tie rod for a 3 year old Jeep and no part stores in our network had it in stock. Vehicle was unsafe to drive, but we could not help them.

My bank started a 6$ fee for checking. Went down and said wasn't on the contract I sign! They said to bad, with Drew 12, 000$ and move it to another bank with free checking!

My Walmart just finished remodeling. If they don't want us in their stores, then they probably shouldn't have expanded & repositioned their clothing departments right at the main entrance. The most entertaining new feature is the maze filled with candy that one has to traverse in order to get to the checkout area - both cashier & self-checkout! Supersized people love it. So fun to watch! 😂
