The Orville 26% Rotten Tomatoes Critics Score exposes the 'Access Media' for what they are. So much love for Doctor Who and Star Trek Discovery, but none for The Orville? In doing research for my Doctor Who videos I came across this and was reminded why this is the perfect example why critics are no longer needed. Almost a perfect inversion of the Doctor Who Critic/Audience score. They can't all have that bad of taste..can they? Let's go back and read some of their reviews and then some new ones from the fans.

I like the Orville as it's probably the closest thing we'll ever get to a Galaxy Quest TV Series.

But do you watch Red Dwarf out of curiosity?

To quote Rich Evans, the man the myth the legend:'' STD feels like a show, made by people who don't know anything about Star Trek and is the exact opposite of everything Star Trek stands for.The show is called ''discovery'' and the only thing they're doing is blowing shit up! Stop blowing shit up and do some actual exploration, ffs. The fact, that Seth McFarlane's Orville, feels more Star Trek, then the official Star Trek speaks for itself.''

The Orville is one of the best sci-fi shows in the last ten years.

My wife and I, both in our 70s, love this show. It’s clever and fun. It’s never dark longer than a few seconds.

I'm still floored that first female critic was all like 'is there no female characters I can identify with... blah blah blah". That's one of the great things I like about the Orville, well-developed characters with interconnectivity with the other characters. For instance, I see Alara and Kelly's relationship best resembling a younger sister/ older sister relationship. This pairs well with the Alara's insecurities about being pretty young for her position, in comes Kelly who acts as both a mentor and a friend.

Sounds like the "critics" jackets didn't have enough Zippers
Orville fans will know what I mean.

none.. NONE of these so called "pros" have watched a full episode of Orville let alone 2 or 3. Orville, while its humor can be a bit jarring sometimes, the stories are first class and harken back to the 90's when we had awesome scifi shows.

Star Trek Discovery is such a disappointment :(
The Orville is such a nice surprise :)

Critic reviews = The 1%
Fan reviews = The 99%

For years now, if critics say it is bad, I will watch it, if they say it is good, I will not watch it. Excluding shows/movies where you know it will be good.

What I’ve learned today
1. Official Critics are full of bs and so isn’t to be listened to

2. Fan reviews and ratings will give me a more honest opinion

The modern media is akin to a laugh track, with a lot less influence.

Seriously, do we really need professional critics at all any more? I am a huge fan of Star Trek since the beginning watching it growing up as a child. I greatly enjoy The Orvill!

Critics don’t even watch what they’re reviewing anymore.

It‘s amazing that the “Orville“ can address cultural issues like gender reassignment, homosexuality, technophilia, Awkward wall flowers, strong women, everyday schmo, religious fanaticism, family strife, etc. into a program that shows both sides without overt judgment. Simply defining the human condition with wit. The drama may not be all flash bang, but neither was the original series of “Star Trek“, which addressed cultural issues of the time. The OST covered technophobia, political suicide, race inequality, gender inequality, and so forth. In a machismo way but look at the other programs of the time.

so true, std is completely unrecognizable as a star trek series
but gene rodenbury would instanly reconize the orville as a spiritual descendant of star trek
