It’s early and cold when a group gathers at Monroe Street and Lake Shore Drive. And as they run along the lakefront, their destination, their collective mission comes into view — this is the 6th year for the Fallen Heroes Honor Run.

Oh yes! Finally, the BEST reason of all to run marathons along Lake Michigan this time of year, weather, . . . I have always marveled at how bone-chilling cold it CAN get there with high winds blowing off ANY direction SOOOO this little bit of marathon stress and strain, cold and wet is shared with the survivors their family members orphans and parents of America's finest, by all measure. BUT MOSTLY realize that the Chicago Police beat works as a matter of course that cruel environment 24/7/365 too, so THIS is the place for the marathon! They most especially and personally, giving all in the line of duty, ARE every bit as patriotically inspiring and glorious as Valley Forge and our greatest guarantors and providers of ALL we hold dear, precious and good in America.
That blue line flag is SSOOOO right and cool; second to Old Glory as fit and representative of what we're all about, imho. 3 Cheers and Bravo!
