I just saw it yesterday at an afternoon matinee showing at my local theater. Oh my God, I can't remember the last time I laughed for two hours straight. Even after the after credits scene, I literally laughed all the way to my car and most of the way home. I truly enjoyed this movie. We could all use a good laugh right now, so treat yourself and go see this one.

Hugh actually saved the movie while it was in pre-production. Ryan and Rhett (the two principal writers) weren't really sure where to take the film to make it different enough from the first two movies to keep making it, as well as having a central plot device for the film to justify the cameos. As it turns out, Hugh rang Ryan and said "I don't know how you can get me in but I wanna do it, I wanna be Wolverine again". Thus, the "anchor being" plot device was born (appropriately meta, I might add) as well as being able to turn the film into a full buddy cop action comedy. Within three weeks after Hugh said he was on board, production kick-started again.

It is very comforting to know that he didn't return to the character because of pressure from friends, fellow actors or fans. It's something he himself wanted to do. That's always something I worry about when actors play characters for too long.
