I Drive A 7 Year Old Prototype Tesla Model S Tri-Motor At A Secret Cold Weather Test Facility!

Kyle is at a cold weather test facility in Michigan's UP where he found a Tesla Model S tri-motor used as a demonstration vehicle for Magna Powertrain. Magna wanted to start with an electric base for this program so they took a 2015 Model S 85D, ripped the battery and motors out of it, and put in their own prototype driveline. Totally insane opportunity to drive this vehicle!

What an insane experience! It is impressive how far Magna was pushing the limits 7 years ago. This thing is wonderful, fantastic to slide around and has serious power. While today’s Plaid technology is certainly more advanced in many ways, it’s great to see what was being worked on all of those years ago.

Magna has now tipped their hat to the extent of their experience. No wonder they’ve been rumored to be Apple’s car partner. Gives legitimacy to Fisker, too!!

I wonder if Magna would consider using also 24-40 kwh Leafs or other brands EVs, and switch the OEM system with theirs, making test mules on different brands. Also, how much will gain, because I saw on a video they have around 750+ miles of range in that car.

I wonder if this was used by magna as a showcase and electric technology test vehicle to build the Ipace for Jaguar since magna started producing those in 2018
