One morning in the Dinokeng Game Reserve I witnessed this most amazing chase. I disturbed our little female cheetah I call Darling and as she got up, a hare jumped up in front of her and she chased it along the road, the hare evaded her on the turn and then escaped from Darling by running underneath my game viewer. Darling had to swerve around the truck. The speed with which she approached the truck was breathtaking. She swung around the truck and ran into the bush looking for the hare by jumping up above the grass. Both the hare and the cheetah almost ran over a Black Backed Jackal that was also sleeping in the bush. The jackal sat up totally bemused probably wondering what the heck had happened. The hare escaped and Darling settled down under a bush and went to sleep.
