As an engineer and a semantics nerd, I deeply appreciate the correct use of the word "centripetal" :)

There used to be a velodrome that was about 3.5 hours away from where i live, but that closed down a few years ago. Now the closest one is 6.5 hours away. Kind of sad that we don't have many velodromes in the US.

I never gave track cycling much thought but this video reminded me that I'm very lucky to have one a 15 minute drive away from me in the US. I looked it up and it was demolished 2 years ago:( Truly very few of them on this side of the Atlantic.

Loved it when I did a taster session at the Stratford velodrome, bloody tiring!

The obvious problem with track cycling, in the US at least, is the lack of venues. I live in a major city, but the nearest velodrome is a 3 hour drive, and it’s an outdoor facility so it’s not open year round.

It's been close to 30 years since I last rode on a velodrome. It is where I feel like I learned how ride a bike, forces you to ride a smooth cadence. Smooth out your steering in a tight pack of riders and great pace line skills. Loved riding the Madison so much fun and incredible interval training. Stopped by Encino Velodrome here in Los Angeles a couple weeks ago thinking about pulling down the old track bike and getting back on it.

i do know where an outdoor track is that comes complete with crazy weekly races during the season, and despite a healthy amount of fear after viewing the crashes, i think i will give it a go!

I loved my taster session in Manchester a few months ago and I am looking forward to being able to do another one! 😊

Always always wanted to give track cycling a shot, but I live about a 4 hour drive to the nearest one... Maybe will have to see come spring!

Enjoyed road cycling back in the late 80's and early 90's. Was active duty and saw cycling around the Mediterranean and really missed having my bike on the ship (stolen in homeport) After my four years I got into cross country motorcycle racing (hare scrambles) and enjoyed it immensely!
As a family man, I found the cost prohibitive and began riding my ole Bianchi with my father in law to train for his cross-country ride to bring awareness to heart health. He road his Trek from the Pacific (Washington state) to the Atlantic (Charelston SC) at 70 years old.
He has reignited my love for human powered, two wheel fun as opposed to Gas Powered, two-stroke fun.
Would love to try this type of 'track riding' if I can locate one near me!

Tried Lee Valley once as a birthday present - loved it! Unfortunately not a single venue in East Anglia. Having to go up to that there London for a track session is waay too far. We need a facility in the East!

we don't have a velodrome close to where I live :(
America has the least velodromes per person in the world

Well, after Jenny Graham introduced Manon to bikepacking, I think now we should flip it and get Manon to bring Jenny

You're lucky in the UK to have so many velodromes. Here in Canada we build them from time to time, but then tend to tear them down or convert them into zoos. Here in Halifax, it's 1, 800km to the closest track. Next year one should open only 1, 200 km away! I guess that's why the UK dominates in the Olympics and Canada doesn't.

I absolutely loved this video, I’ve been thinking about going to a velodrome for a few weeks now, and then randomly your video popped up. It’s a great help and I’m booking in to go to the Lea Valley velodrome in London
