- In this video -
In this video I am doing a trial setup of the front end of the boat to see how all the parts I have made and machined to date are going to work out. I prepare the frames and stem for installing into the strongback and then I cut and assemble part of the newly designed CNC cut strongback system.

It's then down to a trial setup of the fwd framing and stem where I will land some temporary chine and topside batten timbers as well as a bottom plank to see how the timbers will land with the CNC bevelling that I have done to date.

Wow, congratulations Dan. What a satisfying milestone, to see your CNC frames, stem and strong back all come together so well, good to see a smile on your face. Enjoying watching this beauty come together, I'm here for the long haul. Well done!

What a superb process, it's great to see the accuracy available from CAD/CNC now.

You planning and attention to detail is incredible

Whether its wood or steel, in fabrication, the better the fitup, the stronger the finished product. Pretty to watch, Dan.

Congratulations Dan. If you can end up placing all the longitudinal members into the frames without any significant traditional fairing, you will have achieved a "holy grail" moment in modern boat building! Very nice work.

I’m not a boat builder or even a wood worker, but I do enjoy watching a craftsman at work, even I can see the level of fairness in the lines of this build, looking forward to seeing the rest.

🤩🤩
Nicely done Dan!
You can be pleased indeed, and I guess most of us watching are boat nerds borderlining boat geeks!

I have to say it’s the most accurate build I’ve ever seen you did an amazing job so far the CNC is just inspiring and I’ve never seen chime rails that fit that tight without having to have adjustments. You’re an amazing woodworker and it really shows your videos.

It's hypnotizing to watch. I'd love to be able to make this. If I had the time, the space, the tools, the budget...

This episode was especially good because it shows that no matter how much planning and plotting, something will always show up in the physical world to provide you with something to sort out ; (forward frame to stem match-up). Thank you for sharing.

Incredible precision and attention to detail, the opposite end of the spectrum to the dugout canoe, I think my boat-building skills are nearer the latter, anyway superb skills and great work.

What a journey. I think I’ve watched most of your videos. One series looked like it was off your kitchen, another in a tiny garage?, one where you machines a crazy gear, but this, this is a different level. Unreal.

Nice to see it all coming together. CAD/ CAM is so interesting and time saving.
Temptress will be a beautiful and accurately built boat by the looks of things.

Great video, thank you Dan. The accuracy provided by modern tooling is a bit of a game changer, I am looking forward to seeing how the build progresses.

The way that test plank lay down so perfectly brought a huge smile to me - what great satisfaction it must has given you! Twice now having struggled with shaping stems, fairing frames and then letting in stringers (the hard way), I can truly appreciate what you have demonstrated for future builders of this and other crafts.

I loved the look on your face when things worked out the way you hopped it would. You got to love it when a plan comes together. This makes all the planning and work on the front side worth every minuet you spent on it.

Fascinating to see you work through this build. I have been watching since the start of the Temptress build. I am not a boatbuilder but do have a CNC router and shaper, I have found your techniques to be very helpful. Well done

Nice n fair, not bad for a first look see...I admire all the earlier American hard chine planing hulls, also the big sport fishers, they have such beautiful lines. Fantastic workmanship on your part.
